Description
DO YOU HAVE TIME TO READ?My nanny was a pure central american native just like this beautiful woman in the photo.
A direct descendant of the Mayas......
She came to our house to take care of my sister, who was one year older than me....and she stayed forever.
I loved her like a second mother.....she died in our house at very old age....but she is alive in my heart.
I knew she was from Nahuizalco a little town, where a very few survivors still live.
I visited this place for the first time a few weeks ago and to my delight and surprise,
when we arrived to the town I saw this old beautiful woman walking up the street.
There are only a few natives who still wear these beautiful clothes,
my nanny used the same colorful skirts.....and was also bare foot.
I jumped out of the car, and walked silently behind her taking several pictures.
Then I talked to her about my nanny.....she smiled and started to speak in nahuat, our beautiful native language.(She is 85 years old)
I also took some portraits of her ,that I will publish later.
The street looks so shiny because it was wet....people pour water on the streets to avoid the dust of the cars.
95% of the street had neutral gray colors.....only a few elements at the right on the walkside had colors, so I decided to desturate them.
THIS PICTURE IS DEDICATED TO RUSHI ....DAKOO WHO WAS SO KIND TO DEDICATE A PICTURE TO ME.

This is so beautiful... I also love your descriptions...
Gfx community, would'n be so interesting without you...
I like that you desatureted everything except her, it works very well with the bright colors. Your photo is simple, strong the same time and human...
11/02/06 @869
It sounds like you have very pleasant memories of her.

Here, I'd argue that the body itself, even when covered in clothes, the
way we walk ... some kind of aura ... tells something about us.
And you have captured that "special" essence. I not only see the image but I have
a feeling of compassion and understanding for what I associate with that motif.
And that what, in my eyes, distinguishes one simple photo from a piece of art.

i read the story also, interesting
