Description

“Retazo de Pueblo”.......Spanish for “A piece of the town”. The title of a painting on a wall in La Palma.

In 1972 Painter Fernando Llort, born in 1949, at the age of 23, moved to “La Palma”, a little town in the north part of El Salvador. He opened there a painting workshop that turned soon into a factory “The seed of God”, he started to create beautiful paintings that became symbols of the country. His work culminated when he was assigned to design the facade of our Metropolitan cathedral that now displays his colourful works.

In 1977 “The seed of God” turned into a “Cooperative” that employs many of the local natives, who continued the work of Fernando. The town is now an enchanted place, and many of the houses are decorated with the style of painting that Fernando created.
We are all very proud of him.
Please see the links about the work of Fernando.

About the picture.....some little parts of the paintings were deteriorated or washed, and were restored, also some cracks on the wall that could be distracting were healed, but trying to preserve the feeling of reality.

This is why I refer to you as Master Carlos, you take great photos. This is perfect Carlos. You take an normal "ordinary" everyday situation and transform it in a great photo.

Very nice shot. Happy mood in somewhat cold colours.
The white balance seems a little odd, with the bluish cast to the concrete and sand.
The people fit very well with the wall.

So cool i love it, there is a neat pull between which subject to look at, there is something about the way you compose real people standing in front of someones imagination of a cityscape that just makes me smile.

Nice work. It's hard enough to get a good photo of one person, so to get a good capture of everyone in this group is quite an accomplishment.

Awesome capture:)

Cheerful and full of life,
The painting on the wall gives a sort of rythme to this picture,
it is complemetary to the main subjects; almost like music:)

Very nice!

Liked the mural. I've been trying to replicate that sort of style, as you can guess from my latest Durga, but my parents keep dismissing my work as being childish and not really art but scribbling.
